I am sending you a program I wrote. Perhaps it could be inserted it in your archive in the directory /info-mac/snd/util. For lack of fantasy I called it "Mini Recorder 2.1".
I hope this name is not in use for some commercial or shareware software: in such a case let me know and I will change it.
The program itself is 110k plus a demo "Tape" of about 400k; after compression
it takes 264k and after BinHex 356k. If you prefer to save some space you can keep
just the program and discard the demo Tape.
I leave a copy af the same distribution at ftp.dm.unipi.it in /pub/mac-steffe.
To run this program you will need a Mac with System 7, a fast clock and at least
68020 + arithmetic coprocessor 68881 and 6Mb of RAM. I use it on my
Powerbook170 with 8Mb of RAM.
Essentially with this program you can record, play, edit by cutting and pasting,
dub and mix sounds sampled at 8 bit and 22Khz. Up to 8 "Tracks" can be opened at the
same time. Up to 4 "Tracks" can be played together. No length limit for Tracks.
"Tapes" are files that can group up to 4 Tracks, in a particular AIFF format.
Moreover, there is a Fourier Power Spectrum, some digital filters, and ability to convert some sound resources.
Please, read the online help before using the program.
Anyway, to use it, briefly: first load a "Tape" ; than select a "Track" and read the
Tape sound in the Track; than edit and/or play and mix. If you have no Tapes ready, record some sound in a 1-Track-Tape and go on.
It is not difficult to record some person speaking and reassemble his words getting
a different speech.
Warnings:
1. despite the 2.1 this is a first release: there will be bugs ! write to me the bug
you find and I will try to fix it this summer in version 2.2.
2. unlimited Track length means you can not save the Track if you have not enough
disk space.
3. do not keep open other applications when using Mini Recorder 2.1 : if
it happens to crash your system you will not loose documents opened by other
applications.
4. use earphones when dubbing !
5. I did not register at APDA the program creator signature.
